Today, IBM WebSphere sMash V1.1 is generally available for electronic download from IBM Passport Advantage. IBM Reliable Transport Extension for WebSphere sMash V1.1 is also available.  This release of WebSphere sMash accelerates the alignment of business and IT by allowing IBM Business Partners and developers to quickly and simply build agile Web-based applications that respond to business opportunities. 

The formal announcement titled “IBM WebSphere sMash V1.1.0 Brings Smart Application Development to Businesses” provides additional information about ordering the product, packaging and IBM Software Services. Features and support information is also available on the product page.

Key enhancements include:

• Tighter integration with IBM Mashup Center including enhanced support for the production of iWidgets, which can be used within IBM Mashup Center and integration with InfoSphere MashupHub.
• Increased applicability within Microsoft environments including Support for Windows 2008, Windows XP, Microsoft Active Directory, and easier access to content in Microsoft data sources such as Excel Spreadsheets, Access Databases, and SQL Server 2005 enabling fast construction of rich web applications that consume or extend these data sources.
• Better performance and new features for PHP developers, including support for additional PHP extensions.
• Enhancements to our Application Builder tooling including support for remote development, visual form building, visual data model building, debug, remote administration and usability enhancements.
• Enhanced connectivity and integration including S/FTP and POP3 Clients as well as MQ connectivity.
