IBM today announced the availability of Amazon Machine Images (AMIs) for WebSphere sMash at no charge for development and test purposes, enabling software developers to quickly build pre-production applications based on IBM software within Amazon EC2 (see press release). Amazon Web Services hourly charges do apply. This new agreement between IBM and Amazon Web Services (AWS) helps developers easily build and scale their applications using WebSphere sMash and other IBM software in the Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud such as IBM DB2, Informix Dynamic Server, WebSphere Portal, and Lotus Web Content Management.
