Simple PHP-based REST to SOAP solution

Posted by jeffo on January 27th, 2010. Other posts by jeffo

This is a very simple example of using the restToSoap extension of the WebSphere sMash Connection API with a php-based client app to invoke a remote web service.  We have not implemented any of the PHP SOAP libraries yet for WebSphere sMash, but this example shows the relative ease in which a PHP script can [...]

We had about 25 people attend the RTP WebSphere Users Group meeting last night.  The first 30 minutes belonged to Andrew Spyker of the WAS team, who gave a presentation on new XML support being delivered in the upcoming WAS v7 XML Feature Pack, along with one of the youtube videos showing how quick, easy and [...]

PHP resource handler to find LDAP group members

Posted by jeffo on May 26th, 2009. Other posts by jeffo

In exploring how I might write a small approval flow application for LDAP access, I had a need to view the list of members of an LDAP group. I decided to deploy a sMash resource to get the members and return JSON. Also decided to write it in PHP. I couldn’t find [...]

Over the next few weeks we’ll have many first-time visitors from the IMPACT conference coming to our site, and we probably have a few long-time site users who aren’t exactly sure what the fuss over IMPACT is all about. Hope this helps…

ProjectZero started as the name of an incubator project at IBM whose goal [...]

In the past we’ve always finished one “race” by delivering a new version of WebSphere sMash before starting on the next circuit. Our Monaco version resulted in sMash 1.0, then we started on Silverstone.  Silverstone became sMash 1.1, then we started on Sebring. While that’s been great for keeping codename confusion to a minimum, [...]

Inspired by the TV detective shows and their “Crime Scene Investigators”, we’ve decided to highlight our own brand of forensic science work here at Project Zero.  Our intrepid BSI’s (Bug Scene Investigators) will follow a WebSphere sMash problem reported in our forums through to its final disposition.

We’re hoping these posts will give some insight [...]

Create a Google Maps application

A lot of our focus is on the deeper aspects of REST, resources, dojo, global context, etc… (and rightfully so – that’s where the innovation is focused). Sometimes the simpler use cases for sMash get lost behind the meaty ones. This article is going to demonstrate how to link something simple and common, Google Maps javascript applications, with something simple and new, WebSphere sMash’s Zero Resource Model (ZRM). Its written from the perspective of not knowing how either one works, so give it a chance and let us know if its valuable…

All Clear. Cooling has been restored and crisis has passed…
(former message: We’ve lost cooling in the lab where the projectzero servers are hosted. Non-essential servers have been shut down and so far our site remains intact. The problems may pass without notice, but there is the possibility that we’ll be shut down [...]
